Festival Desk – We Can Do This

I like a good barbecue with friends, the smell of food cooking, laughing and some beverage to quench a thirst.  Perhaps a lakeside, or river bank– and fishing poles and swimming with children playing.  Scientists now say perhaps our reality is a dream– or our dream a reality?  Why is that melody so catchy I hear now on the wind?  The storm has passed and the sun is setting… and then tomorrow– how will we proceed?

We need: good and healthy food, shelter and each other.

Us humans are creatures of creativity and love to solve a problem– Su Do Ku anyone?

Dancing to music with our friends and community, so preferable to fighting wars for the spoils of far away soils…

Society and government only a reflection of us and how we choose to live…

Organic farmers with windmills, solar panels and hydro powered machinery, transportation in safe, reliable and comfortable conveyance and jobs making clothing of sustainably grown fabrics…

Healthy folks with wellness plans and doctors and midwives bringing new beings onto this Earth in birthing centers with friends and not in hospitals…

Communities of Socialism, Communism and Democracy are discussing building a peaceful Republic of Republicans!..

Television is now forgotten because We the People are the entertainment, are the decision makers and we don’t care to waste time… and because the air is pure and water is free and walking in nature is an education and a joy to behold.  Flower gardening is a national pastime and our greatest point of pride…

Warriors play war in Olympic paint-ball games, with an electric motorcycle as steed.  A winner takes home his Juliet to begin a new family…

A chess game rages on the full size court as music plays and ideas spring free with coffee and tea…

Am I dreaming?  Where am I?  At the Shakori Hills what?  The GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance!?!

WOW!  How cool is that!

Four Days, Four Stages, 60 Bands, Dance Tent, Kid’s Area, Great Food, Camping, Nature Walks, Arts, Crafts, and more than 7000 folks just like you!

Peace,

Jordan Puryear

Co-coordinator, Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance
