AdaArt
AdaArt is a collaboration of husband and wife, working and inspiring together. Ruben, being from Argentina, brings with him 16 years of experience in the micro-macramé and filigree techniques of South America. Ruben, who learned from his brother, began teaching Libby, his wife, 10 years ago. Macramé is an old technique of knotting that began in the 13th century with the Arab weavers. Essentially macramé means fringe, as in the fringe on rugs. They use thin waxed cord to set semi-precious stones and fossils in complex knot patterns using no glue, just 1000s of knots and lots of patience.

Karen Casey Fused Glass Designs, out of Durham, NC, has been inspired by glass for over 25 years, creating unique jewelry designs, hair accessories, vases, candle holders, clocks, mirrors, and funky art pieces. All pieces are fused glass and individually crafted. Glass is layered and fired at varying temperatures in the kiln to achieve desired effects. Paper and metal inlays and use of a saw to cut designs add unique interest to jewelry and larger pieces. Custom molds created with unique materials add distinction to our bowls. Lamp worked beads also adorn some pieces. We hope our versatile use of glass, from tables, hair accessories, wine stoppers, dishes, vases, clocks, mirrors and of course jewelry encourages people to look and talk about creative possibilities!

Venus and Vitriol
Jewelry created with electricity, copper, and bits of nature. I use a process called electroforming to create a copper coating on crystals and other materials to make wearable alchemical art. First I paint the piece with a special conductive paint, then I attach it to a power supply, and finally suspend it in a special solution that allows copper to move freely from sheet form onto the jewelry piece. This creates organic looking jewelry that sometimes looks like an ancient relic or something created by Nature herself!
