Universal Serpent: Afro-Haitian Dance
Aya Shabu shares her love of and connection to Haiti with Yanvalou, an undulating serpentine dance performed in honor of vodun spirits Damballah and Agwe. Dancers of all abilities are invited to relax into embodied prayer through the watery movements of the snake. If possible, please wear loose, flowing white or light clothing. Taught by Aya Shabu.

Clogging with the Green Grass Cloggers
Founded in 1971 in Greenville, NC, the Green Grass Cloggers are inspired by traditional mountain-style clogging teams
as well as older flatfoot and buck dancers. While their footwork is synchronized, their free-spirited performances include head-high kicks and other unconventional steps. They were inducted into the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

Resilience through Rhythm, Movement and Song
Join us in sharing heart-rhythms, breath and movement. Together we will listen louder and connect as ONE in the healing flow of community. With guidance from inspirational teacher Aubrey Griffith-Zill (Living Arts Collective), we will find the body’s pulse through world movements to live music, featuring the rhythms of Beats in the Bones, an all-female performance troupe bringing soul-stirring word and cracking rhythms to let the light in.
