Come by in the Spring to see what is new or for a friendly game of tether ball!
Programs include medieval swordplay, improv, and lots more! The Outpost is located behind the house, next to the basketball goal and Three Sister’s Garden.
MAKERSPACE @ The Outpost are imaginative sessions of crafting, art, and creating. Several workshops happen simultaneously with the option to try each one. Friday’s focus is on the visual arts of drawing, painting, and color. Saturday is based around fiber arts.

Multiple Day Programs
Join the Wandering Swordsman for this competitive, cooperative game that teaches a range of disciplines, including patience and honor. Organized, combative play with boffer swords, shields, bows and arrows. Now located near the Kids Tent. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 12:00 p.m.
A quick wit and a clever comeback comes in handy when you are thinking on your feet. Maya and friends from the UNCG Drama department will lead you through these actor’s exercises that are fun and challenging; sometimes serious and often hilarious. Try out your latest character voice or transform into another personality altogether as you learn to adapt to each new scenario. Bring your imagination and be ready to make a scene! Friday 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 3:00 p.m.
The Musical McGees
Sylvia and Gus McGee are the eldest of five siblings from a very musical family. As they head into their early teens, this duo has already become veterans of the regions fiddler’s conventions and music festivals. The McGees will treat you to two shows. Fri 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m.
Big Kid Games
Are you ready to test your skills, strategy and physical prowess? Then join in on a cooperative group game geared for teens and young adults. We will be organizing some new games including “Fort Knox” (a version of capture the flag) and an epic Tug-O-War. Meet by the old Oak Tree by The Outpost, Friday 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 1:00 p.m.
Board Games and Chill
After a busy festival day, sometimes it is nice to just slow down and “chill.” The Outpost has a great selection of board games, decks of cards, ping-pong, backgammon and more, so you can gather with your friends, chillax and have some fun. Friday 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 p.m.
A mantra is vocal word or phrase repeated to calm the mind and build a positive vibration. A yantra is a visual design used to focus on for meditation. We will be painting smooth stones with a unique design or positive phrase to keep for your own or gift to someone special. Friday 1:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m.
Watercolor paints can have bright, brilliant colors or soft and airy effects. We will guide you through exploring the different wide-ranging effects that watercolor offers. Without the pressure of creating a specific painting, we hope to have fun just experimenting with color and textures. Located in the Makerspace. Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Learn some basic techniques with what is perhaps the oldests of drawing mediums. Bruce Burgess will show some of the ways vine charcoal can be used to create soft gradations and high contrast darks as he demonstrates a charcoal portrait from life. Located in the Makerspace. Friday, 3:00 p.m.
We have gel pens, markers and crayons and a wide selection of coloring books. Learn some basic color theory and apply it to your design. Located in the Makerspace. Friday, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Our Saturday evening concert features a very talented sister trio. Elise, Olivia and Sophia Fernandez have been playing acoustic music most of their lives, exploring the boundaries of mountain music, jazz and standards from the American songbook. Come and enjoy their unique sibling harmonies, precise musicianship and polished presentation. Saturday 6:00 p.m.
Open Mic and Talent Showcase
Bring your talents, tricks and skills to The Outpost for our family-friendly Open Mic night. Music, movement, skits and jokes are all welcome as you share your five minutes in the spotlight with a supporting crowd. A great place to shine! Saturday 8:00 p.m.
Ocean Treasure Pendants
Create your own personalized pendant with wire-wrapping and hand-selected shells from the Carolina Coast. Saturday 12:00 p.m.
Paracord Water Bottle Holders
Weave your own water bottle holder with paracord and you will always have your hydration handy! While supplies last. Saturday 11:00 a.m.
Accessorize yourself. Transform an old T-shirt or jeans into an upcycled shoulder bag or pouch, or just add some rock ’n’ roll style to a garment you already have. Located in the Makerspace. Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Come learn some classic tie-dye folds and apply your color combination to make your own personalized bandana. Everyone is a “one of a kind”, because no two dyes are the same. While supplies last. Sign up at 1pm. Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Learn an easy way to weave a friendship bracelet, anklet or necklace on a circular loom! Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Just because you’re out on the farm doesn’t mean you can’t get your nails looking bling. Start your day out in style with a selection of festive colors from Hyla. Sunday 11:00 a.m.
Aerialist Liz Bliss of Imagine Circus will teach you the techniques behind soaring upward, spiraling downward and maneuvering her body into unimaginable positions while suspended in air by hanging fabric0. You will be in expert hands as she guides you through the basic wraps, balancing exercises and body positions. Meet at the old Oak Tree by The Outpost, Sunday 3:00 p.m.
